Instructions to the faithful by His Excellency Bishop Paul Hinder, the Vicar Apostolic of Arabia
Except for the mass at 05.45 am on Saturdays, all the other masses in English on Saturdays and Sundays will be obligatory masses from the First Week of March. Language masses celebrated on Fridays or any other days can also use the Sunday Liturgy.
Instead of Wednesday, Friday will be the day of penance (abstinence/fasting) in the UAE, including Lent.
The faithful who cannot have holidays on Saturdays and Sundays may fulfil the obligation by attending mass on any other day of the week.
Henceforth on Fridays, the mass at 05.30 pm is canceled and the mass at 07.00 pm will be a weekday mass.
Revised Guidelines from Sharjah Ruler’s Office for the Church services effective from 1st March 2022
While the situation has improved, the pandemic has not ended. Hence all are requested to follow the guidelines strictly as stated below:
Children who are above 6 years and elders who are 60 years and above are allowed to attend the holy services in the church.
Wearing of masks and maintaining one-meter social distance by all those attending the church services is mandatory.
The faithful who are having flu symptoms (fever, cold and cough) should not be permitted to enter the church
All faithful should disperse immediately after the church services and should not remain inside or outside the church premises for too long.
Birthday and Wedding Anniversary Thanksgiving Masswill be celebrated on Monday, 28th February at 8.00 pm in the Assisi Chapel.
02nd March is Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of the Lenten Season. The Mass timings are as follow:
Masses in English : 05.45 am, 07.00 am & 08.15 am in the Church : 05.00 pm, 06.00 pm & 07.00pm in the Church
Mass in Tagalog : 08.15 pm in the Parish Hall
Mass in Malayalam : 08.15 pm in the Church
Lent begins for Syro-Malabar community from 28th February with holy mass at 08.15 pm in the Church.
Fasting & Abstinence is observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Pope Francis and Bishop Paul have invited all faithful to offer 2nd March, Ash Wednesday’s fasting, penance and prayer for peace in the world, especially in Ukraine.
During the Lenten season, we omit “Alleluia” and “Gloria”. The faithful are reminded not to bring any flowers to decorate the Altar /Sanctuary. Instead, you may bring your love offerings for the poor and needy.
Stations of the Cross in Englishduring lentwill be at 05.00 am and 06.20 pm everyday followed by regular Holy Masses.
Stations of the Cross in Malayalam will be on Wednesdays at 08.15pm.
Stations of the Cross in other languages, Arabic, Konkani, Marathi, Singhalese, Tagalog, Tamil and Urdu, will be on Sundays prior to the respective language masses.
